Reading to be held on Saturday at 3pm in the Hawthorne Room. (Is this a coincidence?) Stop by for a chance to win a deluxe hardcover edition of the book!
Will someone please pinch me? I've just been informed that I'll be reading from "Rabenschwarz", my story in Firbolg Publishing's Enter at Your Own Risk: The End is the Beginning, directly after Norman Partridge—you heard me, Norman Partridge—reads from his.

I remember my son coming to me several years back after reading a copy of Dark Harvest he found in my bookcase and saying it was the best book he ever read. It was one of the first horror books we talked about at length, and even reread together. He was at just the right age for it to be appropriate and hit the nerves we so willingly expose as fans of horror and dark fiction.

It's a bit humbling (did I say a bit?) to be sharing pages, let alone a podium, with a legend like Mr. Partridge. He's a Guest of Honor at the convention, and has accomplished far too much for me to detail here.

As a writer, it spoke volumes to go through the book and pull out all the sticky notes my son and I used to mark lines we loved, or plot elements which sparked discussions between us—and as a mother, it made me proud to know I'll be in a book with an author who made such an impression on a young reader. If Mr. Partridge is kind enough to sign the book, it will definitely be something very precious to share with my son...though we may fight over whose bookshelf it goes back on.

Read about Norman's upcoming WHC appearance here...

...and check out his website here.

Also, see the full Table of Contents for Enter at Your Own Risk: The End is the Beginning here.

Looking forward to meeting so many virtual friends, peers, colleagues, publishers, writers, and artists at the convention.  See you all in Portland!
